ISdAC at REVA 2003

From Thursday the 24th till Saturday the 26th of April ISdAC paricipated for the first time in REVA, a bi-annual event in Flanders Expo Ghent.. Manufacturers, associations and care providers offer the visitors an overview of aids and services for People with Disabilities.

With our presence we wanted to offer the visitors and paricipants the possibility to learn about our organisation, our philosophy and our projects. In order to demonstrate the importance of an accessible Information Society for disabled persons, on Thursday afternoon a direct contact was established between the fair and our co-worker in Louvain by means of internet and videoconferencing.. By means of this demonstration we illustrated that with help of the new Information Technologies, you can easily work together from a distance.

Our presence at REVA resulted in some interesting contacts. Not only People with Disabilities themselves, but also manufacturers, associations, care providers and educational institutes showed an interest in our organisation. We also got the chance to meet a few associations of the French-speaking part of Belgium. Over the next days and weeks we'll try to elaborate and to extend these contacts.

Finally, there was also interest from the political side. Mr. Stefaan De Clerck, chairman of the Flemish Christian party CD&V, visited us Friday around noon.

Our introduction at REVA was a pleasant and useful experience.and we hope this will be the beginning of a long tradition.
